What is Kala Sarpa Dosha?

Kala Sarpa is a specific planetary alignment such that all the planets fall between the Rahu and Ketu nodes of the moon in a person’s kundali which creates Kaal Sarp Doshas. There are 12 types of Kaal Sarp Doshas Anant Kaal, Kulika, Sheshnaag, Vishdhar, Vasuki, Shankpal, Padam, Karkotak, Mahapadma, Takshak, Shanka Chood and Ghatak.

There are 12 places and 9 planets, if the 7 planets are between Rahu and Ketu, Kala Sarpa Yog is formed, which is malefic for the person on whose kundali it is found. As per Vedic texts, during the amrit manthan, one of the demons managed to take a sip.  Vishnu decapitated him, Rahu was the mouth of the snake, and Ketu was its tail. Now that they were immortal, Bhagwan Vishnu had to create a spot for them, so he placed them in two specific points in the sky. However, by eclipsing the Sun and Moon twice a year they can create confusion and take exact revenge.

• Chanting 108 times the Beej Mantra of Rahu along with keeping a string of Agate (akeek) in hand.
• One should also water the Peepal tree every Saturday to reduce the impact. 
• Chanting the Kaal Sarpa Gayatri mantra is an effective way to reduce the impact.
